AWOLNATION is an American indie rock band, and is the solo project of Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero.
Awolnation (aka Aaron Bruno) fever has been spreading like wildfire across the US and now the band are making a name for themselves in the UK. The debut album, 'Megalithic Symphony, released in July 2011, is a bold and daring debut which references an array of genres, featuring a heady blend of electronica and infectious hooks amalgamating into a supersonic aural montage for the senses.
The band is signed to Red Bull Records,and their first EP, Back from Earth, was released on iTunes on May 18, 2010. They have performed with Weezer and MGMT.
The band's first single, "Sail" debuted at #30 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Songs chart on the chart week of February 10, 2011. The band released their debut album Megalithic Symphony digitally on March 15th with the physical CD released on March 29th on Red Bull Records.
The album features 15 tracks with iTunes and Amazon featuring the bonus tracks "Swinging from the Castles" and "Shoestrings" respectively.
The name AWOLNATION is derived from frontman Aaron Bruno's high school nickname. In an interview with Kristin Houser of the LA Music Blog, he stated that he "would leave without saying goodbye because it was just easier, so that's where the name Awol came from".
