+ Howe Gelb Alt-country band Willard Grant Conspiracy originally formed in1995 in Boston, Massachusetts by Robert Fisher and Paul Austin. The band operates as a collective, with vocalist Fisher being the only permanent member. Up to thirty other musicians contribute to the band, both in the studio and during live performances. Willard Grant Conspiracy toured extensively during 2005/06, visiting twenty-three different countries, including a showcase at the famous South By Southwest festival. Fisher’s voice and Americana style have been compared to both Johnny Cash and John Cale. The new Willard Grant Conspiracy album will be available in May this year. Titled ‘Pilgrim Road’, the album features orchestral instruments mixed with more traditional band instruments in a collection of songs written and recorded in Glasgow, Scotland. Co-written with Malcolm Lindsay, ‘Pilgrim Road’ continues to develop some of the musical ideas from 2003’s ‘Regard The End’ record. The band will soon be embarking on a new tour in support of the new album with a ten-piece version of the band that will include strings and horns. Each date of the tour will be honoured with a solo set from special guest Howe Gelb. |
