Manchester’s best new band, The Whip, have been creating quite a storm of late. Formed from the ashes of Manctronica hopefuls, Nylon Pylon, the group is the brainchild of Bruce Carter and Danny Saville. Live, their sound is given extra beef by bassist Nathan Sudders and drummer Fiona Daniel. The group’s disco house sounds like the missing link between New Order and the Soulwax Nite Versions – melodic bass and precise percussion meets dark Mancunian charm.

They are now signed to Southern Fried Records and recently supported Simian Mobile Disco on their January/February 2008 UK dates. They released their club hit single ‘Trash’ on 17th March this year and have since released their debut full-length album ‘X Marks Destination’.

Their debut showcases the band’s invention and versatility. Many of the tracks are based around a filthy electronic sound layered over simplistic yet effective drumbeats mixed with dirty bass lines and laser gun effects. The entire album is feverishly catchy and is sure to set dance floors stomping in any club, pub or bedroom.

Since the release of the band’s debut they have been touring relentlessly, showcasing their sex-ridden beats at pretty much every festival on the map! They performed relentlessly at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

See The Whip perform live at Manchester Academy 2 on Friday 21st November.
