+ OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE. Synth-rock band The Birthday Massacre are based in Toronto, Canada and officially formed in 1999, though at that time they wenjt by the name Imagica. It wasn’t until 2002 that the band adopted the name The Birthday Massacre. July 2002 saw the band independently release a limited edition CD entitled ‘Nothing and Nowhere’. Two years later they released ‘Violet’, a nine-track EP, which caught the attention of German label Repo Records, who signed the band and released a remastered and expanded version of ‘Violet’ in Europe. In 2005 the band signed to Metropolis Records and released ‘Violet’ in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom and most of South America. In September 2007 the band released ‘Walking With Strangers’ which entered at number ten on the billboard top heatseekers chart. In May 2008 they released the ‘Looking Glass’ EP which they promoted whilst on tour with Mindless Self Indulgence, Fake Shark – Real Zombie! And Combichrist. In January 2009 the band announced through a MySpace bulletin that they would be releasing their newalbum in the fall of 2009 along with a live DVD of the ‘Walking With Strangers’ tour. |
