Renowned for their energetic live shows, New Found Glory’s reputation has grown with almost constant touring. The band first came to the UK to support Blink 182, but have gone on to sell out headline tours in their own right; now being set to play Manchester Academy 1 on 21st of November. Hailing from Coral Springs, Florida, NFG formed in 1997, and are comprised of vocalist Jordan Pundik, guitarists Chad Gilbert (ex-Shai Hulud vocalist) and Steve Klein, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Joe Moreno. The bands debut release on Fiddler Records was the 1997 ‘Its All About Girls EP’. Soon after this recording, Moreno left the line up and was replaced by the bands current drummer, Cyrus Bolooki. The band’s follow up album, ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay’ was released on the Eulogy Recordings label. Promotion for this album, along with extensive touring was beginning to earn the band a significant fan-base. NFG’s rise on the pop-punk scene was gaining them much notoriety, prompting Drive Thru Records to sign them to release the EP titled ‘From the Screen to Your Stereo’, in 2000. Following this, major Label MCA picked up the band and released their self-titled LP, ‘New Found Glory’. The third studio album, ‘Sticks and Stones,’ followed their self-titled LP, and NFG were asked to join the Vans Warped Tour for the second time. The album ‘Catalyst’ was released in May 2004 and it debuted at number 3 on the Billboard album chart in late May. It sold 146,000 albums in its first week, and was certified gold by the RIAA on August 18, 2004. After extensive touring to promote the album, the band took a long-deserved break to work on their fifth album, ‘Coming Home’, that was released in September of 2006. LP, ‘From the Screen to Your Stereo Part 2’ provided a follow up to the EP ‘From the Screen to Your Stereo’, and was released on September 18th, 2007. The first single taken from the album was ‘Kiss Me’ with the band taking to the road in the UK late 2007/early 2008, touring with the likes of Paramore, Kids in Glass Houses and Conditions. March 2008 will see the band release a compilation, aptly named ‘Hits’, that will feature a collection NFG’s most successful singles, as well as the previously un-heard song, ‘Situation’. In April 2008 a CD called ‘Punk Goes Crunk’ will feature New Found Glory covering "Tennessee", originally by Arrested Development; another album of the ‘Punk Goes’... collection. According to AbsolutePunk.net, in late spring, the band will release, an EP with 6 tracks, on Bridge 9 Records; containing both new material and covers of classic hardcore punk songs. The EP, entitled ‘Tip of the Iceberg’, will be sold on CD, 7" and digitally, through the Internet. |
