Mostly Autumn is a British progressive rock band, which formed in 1998 by member Bryan Josh (electric guitar, vocals, acoustic guitar, e-bow). Josh then went on to recruit members Heather Findlay, Iain Jennings, Liam Davison, Angela Goldthorpe, Jonathan Blackmore and Andy Smith to complete the group. They quickly began performing at local venues and released ‘For All We Shared’ as a tribute to Josh’s late father.

The band’s live performances, which combine progressive and atmospheric rock with Celtic sounds began to draw a lot of attention which led to them signing with G.F.T Cyclops, who re-released ‘For All We Shared’, along with their follow up, ‘The Spirit of Autumn Past’. The band’s third album ‘The Last Bright Light’ appeared in 2001. They also released their DVD ‘The Story So Far’ around this time on Classic Rock Productions. 2002 saw them release ‘Music Inspired By The Lord Of The Rings’, also on Classic Rock Productions. ‘Passengers’ was the band’s fifth studio album released in 2003, which was followed by 2005’s ‘Storms Over Still Water’.

The band’s latest release was 2006’s ‘Heart Full of Sky’, which was the first Mostly Autumn album to feature Chris Johnson on keyboards and also the first to have Olivia Sparnenn as an official member. The album was also their debut on their own label, Mostly Autumn Records. The album is classic Mostly autumn, laden with glorious musical passages, featuring everything from folk through to rock, accompanied by the beautiful vocals of Heather Findlay.

A new studio album, titled ‘glass Shadows’ (which is now available for pre-order on the band’s website) the album is due to be released in April 2008. The writing of the album saw band members Heather and Bryan retreating to the lake district, apparently inspiring a more organic sound for the new songs, harking back to the band’s earlier material. The record is currently in production and is being recorded at Fairview Studios, where the band are working alongside old friend John Spence, engineer of many previous Mostly Autumn albums.
