For God’s sake. Here we go again. Those frumpin’ Scandi’s have done it again. And to be quite honest all this COOL STEALING is getting a little tiresome. We’re on the verge of writing to our Viking brethren and telling them to at least TRY to let us have a go at being cool from time to time, if it’s not too much bloody trouble. In what form does the Scandinavian Cool Trump card come, this time? The most beauteous and formidable package of Swedish talent you could ever wish for - Lykke Zachrisson.

Her performer name – ‘Lykke Li’ is as delicious to say as her voice is to listen to. Her music is something of a law unto its own. Music journos have tried to make loose comparisons between her and artists such as Bjork, Regina Spektor, Emiliana Torrini … the list goes on, and quite honestly none of it does her justice – when do comparisons ever do great artists justice?

She will be just 25 years old when she performs in Manchester this time round, yet she has done more than many achieve in a lifetime – she’s lived in Portugal, Morocco, Nepal, India and New York. She’s dated rock stars and released two albums, as well as lending a helping hand (vocal) to other artists’ work – Royksopp and Kleerup to name a couple.

Lykke Li’s very special rendering of electro-pop magic is as delightful as a new born kitten mewing gentle in your hand. And as fun as swimming naked in a swimming pool with a wave machine that’s been commissioned for your very own special naked usage. And as endearing as a small child trying to pick up a little tiny woodlouse with their chubby little useless fingers. Och. We can’t go on, can we? Just come and see her do her thing, then you’ll be full to the brim of your own weird analogies of her wonderfulness.
