This five piece power pop rock band consisting of Aled Phillips (vocals), Joel Fisher (guitar), Iain Mahanty (guitar), Andrew Shay (bass) and Phil Jenkins (drums) hail from their hometown of Cardiff, Wales and reference themselves with a wide list of influences ranging from Britpop acts such as Blur and Oasis to classis pop acts like Michael Jackson, The Beach Boys, The Police and Prince to the hardcore punk sounds of Glassjaw, The Movielife and Refused.

During their time as an unsigned band, Kids In Glass Houses garnered a rare amount of support and press from the likes of Kerrang, NME, Big Cheese, Rock Sound, Tuned and Total Guitar magazines as well as BBC Radio 1 and XFM.

The band achieved their success through an impressive array of support slots including Hundred Reasons, Manic Street Preachers, Lostprophets, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Goo Goo Dolls and 30 Seconds To Mars, which has showcased their talent to a wide and varied audience and increased their fan base. They have also performed a massive amount of festivals, including Give It A Name Festival, The Full Ponty Festival, Summer Breeze Festival, Hyde Park Calling, Collision Course Festival, Download Festival and the Reading and Leeds Festival.

During October 2007, the band completed a 16-date headline tour of the UK, supported by London band Tonight Is Goodbye. Following that they supported fellow Welshmen Funeral For A Friend on their December 2007 UK tour. Between October and December tours the band recorded their debut album at Long Wave Studios with Romesh Dodangoda, who also produced the band’s previous EP.

In August 2007, Kids in Glass Houses were nominated for ‘Best British Newcomer’ at the Kerrang awards but were beaten to the post by friends and fellow musicians Gallows.

Kids In Glass Houses signed to Roadrunner Records in December 2007 and released their debut album ‘Smart Casual’ in May 2008. The album is laden with fun, upbeat summer rock anthems, which are not entirely dissimilar to fellow countrymen Lostprophets and Funeral For a Friend.

Kids In Glass Houses will be performing live at Manchester Club Academy on Friday 17th October.
