+ YEAR LONG DISASTER + MORE

Desert rock/stoner metal band Karma To Burn hail from Morgantown, West Virginia and consists of members William Mecum (guitar), Rich Mullins (bass) and Rob Oswald (drums). The band are noted for their uncompromising instrumental sound, echoing that of such desert rock bands as Kyuss and The Obsessed.

Karma To Burn began their musical career whilst drug addled teenagers, living in an opiated world making music and moonshine. They recorded their supersonic rumblings and sent them out to record labels far and wide. After a show in New York City the band secured a deal with Roadrunner Records. They decided to get a singer. Various people tried out. Karma To Burn was Marlon Brando, the singers were Martin Sheen. This was a rock and roll version of Apocalypse Now. One fellow who tried out ended up in the loony bin. No one could make the cut. Finally the band enlisted one of their friends to take on vocal duties and made it into the studio.

Karma To Burn released their eponymous debut album in 1997 and have since released a further two full-length studio efforts, 1999’s Wild, Wonderful… Purgatory and 2001’s Almost Heathen. They have also released a collective works album titled Mountain Mama’s and a live album titled Live In London & Chasing The Dragon.
