Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong is an all-male five-piece indie band based in London. The band played their first ever gig in January 2007. By October of the same year they had released their debut single ‘Lucio Starts Fires’ on Young and Lost Club records. Lead vocalist Joe Lean also acts under the name Joe Van Moyland and was previously the drummer with The Pipettes until June 2007 when he decided to concentrate on Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. In 2007, the band supported Babyshambles, Dizzee Rascal, Cansei De Ser Sexy and The Kaiser Chiefs. They also completed their first ever-headlining tour across the UK in December 2007. In 2008, the band supported The Cribs on the NME Awards Tour and will be showcasing at this year’s South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. The band’s second single ‘Lonely Buoy’ was released on 18th February this year and they are currently working on their debut album alongside producer John Cornfield. The album is untitled as of yet and the release date is still to be confirmed, but the band assure us that it will be ‘one’ of the albums of 2008. |
