+ My Passion + The Headstart
Nashville five-piece Framing Hanley are set to take the rock scene by storm, and there ain’t nothing we can do about it. So we might as well just spread our arms wide and welcome them into our musical collections whilst the going is good. So, come here Kenneth Nixon with your piano and guitar and singing voice, we want to ruffle your hair. Step forward Ryan Belcher (lol @ ‘Belcher’) with your guitar and piano and backing singing voice, we want to rub your back in a totally platonic way. Come hither Brandon Wootton with your guitar and even more backing sing-songing, we just want to pinch your chubby cheeks. Luke McDuffee, get over here avec your bass and voice, so we can see how much you’ve grown. Chris Vest: you know the drill, wander over here and let us sniff your freshly washed hair. There we go, they’ve now officially been welcomed. Framing Hanley are a band with everything to prove, after feeling conversely disheartened by the success of their cover of Lil Wayne’s tune ‘Lollipop’. (Boohoo boys, but loads of bands get good from an initial cover, so fret-not.) They have vowed to demonstrate not only an ability to create their own brand of alternative rock, but also execute their live shows in an ‘unforgettable’ fashion. Unforgettable in a good way, obv. They have garnered an impressive array of musical acolytes since their forming in 2005 and debut album The Moment, from Brett Hestla (Creed) to Jeff Hanson (Paramore), the interest in their sound is palpable. A Promise to Burn was the band’s sophomore album, and one which translates fantasticall well into a prodigious live tour. It is an album full of rock anthems – ‘The Promise’ certainly lives up to its namesake, with its captivating riff and demonstration of lyrical skill beyond this young band’s years. It confirmed Framing Hanley as the connoisseurs of rock they profess to be. Without doubt, their show at Manchester Academy 2 on Tuesday 21st June is one not to be missed. |
