+ The Fresh And Onlys

American four-piece rock group Deerhunter originate from Atlanta, Georgia. The band consists of members Bradford Cox, Moses Archuleta, Josh Fauver and Lockett Pundt. The band have described their sound as ambient punk, though they incorporate a wide range of genres, including noise rock, art rock, shoegaze and post-punk, alongside significant pop elements. The band has gone through several line-up changes and the unfortunate death of member Justin Bosworth, who died of head injuries suffered in a skateboarding accident.

Bosworth’s death influenced the sound of Deerhunter’s debut album, Turn It Up Faggot, which was the result of a lot of negativity. After the band finished the album, in an indication of how difficult it was to record in the wake of his bandmate’s death, Cox said “I don’t ever want to make this album again”.

The band’s sophomore album Crypotograms saw its release in January 2007. The album revealed a more subdued and introverted sound. Also in 2007 the band released the Flourescent Grey EP.

The quartet’s third album, Microcastle, was released in October 2008, co-released with Weird Era Cont… - a bonus album recorded several months after the completeion of the Microcastle recordings.

May 2009 saw the band release a new EP, Rainwater Cassette Exchange. The EP sees the band ranging from translucent psych-pop to pummeling garage-rock, direct and subtle, light and dark .
