'People Help The People', being performed live, in front of a home crowd. There aren't really words that can truly capture what that is going to be like. You will have to come and see it yourself when Cherry Ghost come to play at the Academy this October.

The Bolton-based quintet have that sense of drama and atmosphere in their indie rock which is a gift bestowed upon so few bands these days. The warmth of the folky elements and symphonic grandeur that comes from their music is all wrapped up neatly in the unmistakeable underlying flavour... the flavour of Mancunia. It's so effervescent between every bar of music that it is easy to see why their five years of active production has constantly drawn Cherry Ghost with parallels to other local and Lancashire legends like I Am Kloot, Elbow and Doves. A band could be taken to great places on such flattering comparisons alone; they all make anthemic music that is utterly stunning live- they capture every fibre of their audiences' being. You feel the music.

The Ivor Novello-winning band are capable of creating a sound that evolves with each listen of their record, like a greater sense of understanding and appreciation comes as you feel each note. The heavy-heartedness of the soulful, vulnerable vocals drives each song with very moving semblance; and the yearning within the guitar and strings create a truly mystifying ambiance. They are charming. Their latest album, 'Beneath This Burning Shoreline' has been met with overwhelming positivity, including great praise from 6Music, Mojo and Rough Trade Records. New single 'Black Fang' captures a real sense of endearing optimism and hope, and will no doubt have the masses sing along to every word, pint glasses held aloft. An atmosphere so festival-like you will forget that you're indoors.
