Ok so we do have some more words about this fine young thing: already being described as a rare and prodigious talent by The Guardian. At the tender age of 23 Caitlin Rose has been compared to the likes of Loretta Lynn and even Patsy Cline. She has a cool and infectious quality rarely found, you won’t be able to take your eyes (or ears) off her. She also counts as a Friend Of The Academy, having played here a few times, and our boss Sean Morgan’s bez mate Marc Riley is a Fan too.

The lady who loves, well, a cigarette actually (rarely seen without one, sings about them, tries to only go places where she can smoke them, you catch my drift) comes from a fantastically musical background: Dad is Johnny B Rose and proud Mum is Liz Rose who is a Grammy winning songwriter and has written a fair few tunes, some for the likes of Taylor Swift. There are however no other connections to Swift with regards to the songs as Rose has spawned something more intricate and enchanting, with a voice so delightful and perfect you could just eat it. She has the attitude and confidence of a rock and roll star and is definitely one to watch out for… she will go places.

Rose’s songs depict old stories told in a new and refreshing way, twanging on the strings of hearts that have been broken on one or more occasion, fearlessly beautiful and soothing. Her first release was seven track EP ‘Dead Flowers’ followed by the eagerly anticipated full length album Own Side Now released for our listening pleasure in March 2011. Get your bad selves down to good ol’ Academy 3 for some Caitlin action on Tuesday 26th July.
