BROTHER have changed their name to VIVA BROTHER after a legal challenge was served on them by ANOTHER Brother (an Australian 'powerhouse celtic tribal

trio') after the Slough rock group had just finished a gig in the USA.

The US-based other Brother claim to combine 'the deep pulse of the didgeridoo, the soaring highs of the bagpipes, and tribal percussion' - and the UK Brother, with their increasingly high profile inAmerica, started to come to the other band's attention.

It was whilst playing a gig in San Francisco that Sloughıs finest noticed a man staring at them intently from the front row throughout the duration of the gig.  When he started tugging bassist Joshıs trouser leg, the group thought that something very strange was going on, but it was only when one of their roadies was approached after the gig when the band had left the stage, and hit with a huge pile of legal documents, that they had been 'served.'

Shortly afterwards, whilst waiting to record the prestigious Late Show with David Letterman in New York, Brother almost lost their slot due to the other band's actions, but in the end they were able to perform.

A few months and much spirited legal discussion later, the band decided that life would be simpler if they changed their name for the world rather than just the US, and avoided a battle in the US federal court in LA (in the spirit of The Chemical Brothers and Santigold before them), and Viva Brother were born.

Lead singer Lee Newell said, 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three creatures decided one day that it would be a good idea to start a band called Brother. Many, many years later four frighteningly handsome devils in the desolate, post apocalyptic wasteland of Slough decided to do the same thing. Something called "the law" got in the way and reared its ugly head in San Franciscoin the form of something called a writ. However with this out of the way we do finally feel free. Brother is dead. Long Live VIVA BROTHER!'

The band release their debut album, ŒFamous First Words,ı on August 1st and will be touring the UKlater this year. For full dates please visit www.acidlove.net
